Japanese Dragons 日本の竜・龍

日本では竜は大切にされています。竜は大切な日本の文化です。

竜のあるお寺があります。例えば、京都の天龍寺です。

日光東照宮でもたくさんの竜が見られます。この神社について、日本のミステリー番組を見ました。

そして、漫画とアニメにも竜が登場します。

例えば、ドラゴンボールの竜などです。

また、「千と千尋の神隠し」では、ハクが竜に変身します。

竜にまつわる踊りもあります。例えば、浅草の浅草寺で行われる金竜の舞などがそうです。

それから、竜は十二支の一つでもあります。

竜という漢字は興味深いです。中国の古代の漢字は龍です。龍の右側峰があります。竜の後ろ姿に似ています。そして、竜と龍、右の下で尻尾があります。

竜と恐竜はとても似ています。どうしてでしょうか？たぶん古代の人が、恐竜を見たのかもしれません。

Dragons are a very important part of Japanese culture.

There are dragon temples, such as Tenryuuji (The Heavenly dragon temple) in Kyoto.

There are dragons at the temple in Nikko too at Toushougu Shrine – I saw a TV Mystery hunter program about this.

And Manga and Animated movies have dragons too. For example, Dragon-ball, and Spirited Away where Haku turns into a dragon.

There are dragon dances, such as that held at Asakusa’s Sensouji temple.

And one of the signs of the Chinese zodiac is a dragon.

Even the word dragon in the kanji is interesting – in the old Chinese form (龍)you can see what look like ridges on its back on the right side and then a tail at the bottom right.

Given that dragons and dinosaurs are very similar, could it be that dragons could be connected to ancient dinosaur sightings?

Jurassic Park ジュラシック・パーク

Have you seen any of the Jurassic Park movies?
ジュラシック・パークの映画を見たことがありますか？

These movies are all very entertaining, but I have a number of problems with the movies.
これらの映画はとても面白いですが、私はこれらの映画に関してたくさんの疑問があります。

1.    It’s impossible to clone dinosaurs.
恐竜のクローンは無理です。

2.    The movies teach evolution and millions of years, both of which are unproven atheistic theories. (The idea that dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago is not true.)

The movie is therefore another thing that is helping to indoctrinate people to believe these wrong ideas.

3.    The movies make dinosaurs look smarter than humans.
映画は恐竜は人間より頭がいいように表現しています。

4.    The movie makes dinosaurs look more scary than I think they would have been.
